In further evidence that Pittsburgh is great, artist Elana Schlenker has opened a pop-up store in Garfield with a “pay what you’re paid” pricing model. Men pay 100% of the ticket price of a given item. Women pay 76% right now, which reflects the average gender wage gap in Pennsylvania. This model does not account for many other factors (race or educational background being a couple of the most obvious), but this is such a creative way to draw attention to a persistent problem. If you’re still in Pittsburgh, check out 76<100 for me!
